Summer on the Mount- Humility

Have you ever heard it said that humility is one of the most challenging attributes to attain? Because the moment you believe you have attained it...you've actually lost it. Perhaps Jesus was thinking something similar when he transitioned from Matthew chapter 5 to chapter 6. He spent so much time urging his followers to live by a higher standard that perhaps he saw a potential pitfall, even in the midst of making those important changes. It's one more reminder that our righteousness must be more than just on the surface. Our motives must be every bit as pure.
